About Pizza Wagon

Pizza Wagon has been family owned and operated since 1966 — a true Bay Ridginal, and proud of it. Sixty years in, the shop on Fifth Avenue near 86th Street is still known for its Sicilian slices and round pies, served from 10 AM until late into the night. Regulars keep coming back for the quality, the consistency, and the friendly prices.

Our story, slice by slice

1965

The corner before the slice

8610 Fifth Avenue first held Chuck Wagon, a barbecue-and-burgers spot. The format never caught on — Bay Ridge had other plans for the corner.
1966

Pizza Wagon opens its doors

Philip Tucciarone — a Minturno-born Italian who came to America in 1946 — opened Pizza Wagon to support his family. The dough and sauce recipes have stayed the same ever since. A slice went for fifteen cents.
1985

The Zingaro family takes the wheel

Nunzio Zingaro, born in Baia e Latina, Italy in 1935, bought the shop from his brother-in-law Philip so his children could run it. Anthony Zingaro and Vitangelo Parente still manage the shop today.

Still family-run on Fifth Avenue near 86th — dough made fresh every morning, Sicilian squares and round pies from 10 AM until 1 AM. Sixty years on, it is woven into the rhythm of Bay Ridge.
